Villa Romana del Casale near Piazza Armerina, Sicily ~ April 28, 2004
A clear-ceilinged structure covers the most incredible mosaics, still in situ at the Villa Romana del Casale near the present-day hilltop town of Pizza Armerina.
I would very much like to visit this. I was reading some time ago about all the digs in Rome and the wonders they are constantly discovering buried under the city.
Nice to hear from you; hope all is well!
It looks like both of us are keeping on keeping on (re the blogs!)...
It is so great that preserving these things like this are a top priority. I'm afraid they would just bulldoze it here. That is, IF we had anything that old...

That's really well covered. Great that the mosaics have a safe and dry home.
Did you get a pic of the mosaics?

Thanks, all of you :) Francisca, your answer is on today's post and also on today's post for Animal Art.
