There's nothing like swimming in the ocean and discovering that you're not alone.
One of the first things I noticed about sea turtles is how placid they seem, although they're clearly aware of you and are not that happy about having you in their space.
It's hard to desceribe what it's like being close to one of these big, peaceful reptiles. It seems ageless, and timeless as it goes on its way reflecting diffused and ripple light patterns in its suspended world.
This turtle has gotten tired of me and flaps away like a bird in slow-mo.
Near the surface.
Up for air.
Gliding away.
Bye bye.
where you can find some cool toy and replica sea turtles.

I LOVE this series, Sheryl! Terrific photos and commentary. I've not swum (swimmed, swam, swom) with sea turtles but it sounds like an exhilarating experience.
Thanks so much for the info on cell phones...that will be very helpful to us as we try to come to some sort of decision...I may be back with more question, though... :-)
We did a snorkel trip at this location as well. The dudes were not as nice with us though. They tended to haul out as soon as they saw someone getting near. You really got some nice shots of them though!
PS: Here's my best dude. This photo was cropped and brightened. It was really taken from some distance.
They really are amazing though.
