Mt. Etna obscured by clouds

Mt. Etna from Taormina, Sicily, Italy Taormina, Sicilia (Sicily), Italy ~ April 24, 2004

During our few days in Taormina, we never did have a clear view of the volcano; it was under cloud cover, but we could see that some of the cloud was from the volcano itself. Taormina was charming, scenic, and full of history. I'd love to go back.

I might go to Sicily in January... Not sure yet. Now I want to!

Norsemen and thistles: well from what I remember of the story, it says that the flowers were the best defense of the Orkney islands and northern Scottish mainland because they grew so thickly that the Norsemen turned back for a while... ;-) Hence the Scottish national flower.

That looks like a wonderful place. I'd love to go there someday.

Just saying that Mt Etna was right there behind that cloud was exciting in itself.
