February 4, 2006 ~ Near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Last week Julie at Taphophile Tragics mentioned my penchant for "drive-by" cemeteries. I had to laugh, because I already had another one in mind. This isn't it. I got lucky and stumbled upon this one a few minutes later. At least this one is in focus. And in color!
Next week? Maybe another drive-by.

The use of colours is interesting. Makes our cemeteries look downright dowdy!
very unusual looking cemetery...
Reminds me a little of my Peruvian one - all the colours. I really like these Latin American cemeteries.
Make that Chilean, not Peruvian.
Looks like it might be out of town.
I've always thought that "drive by" photos could be its own meme.
Amazing use of red in the first photo! There's a sense of celebrating life in these views of the cemetery!
Wow. It almost looks like a little village in it's own right. Beautiful.

Yes, it has similarities to a little village. However, you know what it reminds me of the most? You know those places on the edge of town where folks live who NEVER throw stuff out. Rather they plant things randomly in their back yard ... possibly in the vain hope that they will sprout! So, to me, this is reminiscent of a hoarder's yard. But a colourful one ...
Thanks for this, Sheryl. I will bring my popcorn along next week for another drive-by ...
I've been to Mexico many times but never visited a cemetery. That of course was before I became interested in the subject, so I have to remember to include that on my next itinerary. But then, who visits Mexico these days with the drug wars! I'll need to wait until safe times return.
what a graves. so different from what i have seen...
i think its really a nice habit to goto cemeteries when abroad... :)
This is a really fancy one! I've been to Puerto Vallarta, but it was with my parents as a child. I don't think we went on any cemetery hikes!
Fantastic and so different from the one in Chiapas I already posted.
I post to Tafophile tragics from time to time. This must have been a week I didn't because I totally missed this. Their cemetaries look like little villages for the dead.
I like both the pretty in pastel cemetery (looks fairy-tale like) and the shaddow of the tree in the top photo.
