I found the textured fortified-palazzo look of this building fascinating. I have no idea what the history is. Note also the shrine about mid-way up on the right side of the building. I don't know who could worship there, but maybe that's not the point. I have very little reference for Catholic culture. It's too bad about the graffiti.

An extremely interesting building and quite beautiful in its own way, yet marred by graffiti!
I'm always amazed at the open religious sentiments expressed in so many European countries while at the same time religion is taken less and less seriously.
That is a really interesting building. I've never seen one like it.
