In the Pontiff's garden

Flowers in Vatican City Vatican City ~ April 15, 2004

When I think of the Vatican, I think of many things, but I never thought about the gardens until I visited. The gardens are delightful, and these daisy-like flowers were blooming beautifully near the cactus garden - which was really an unexpected discovery. Maybe Krise of "Floral Friday" can tell me what they are.

These are gorgeous! And you're right, 'cause when I think "Vatican," I think piles of stone and musty old rooms and funny old men wearing dresses.

I think they are Osteospermums - a type of African daisy. Hmmm. When I think of the Vatican I don't think of gardes either. What a nice surprise!

Beautiful flowers. Even to me Vatican city has never been linked to gardens. For me it has been places of churches/
