Woman with Accordion

Paris ~ October 18, 2008

This goofy scene looks like something you would find inside an historic vaudeville show, not out on the street, but after all, it was Montmartre, and it seems all of Montmartre has become a circus. I didn't know that, because the last time I was there, it was gray, empty, and you could see across the square. I'm not saying it wasn't fun, but it wasn't the Montmartre I remember from previous visits. I think about these things a lot as more and more places become less real and more like Disneyland. But things change. When I was first there - finding something I wanted not to change - it wasn't the Montmartre of Picasso's time, either. In those days, Montmartre was a country village.

I know you're right, but I'd still love to have a ticket to go there, regardless how it has changed. Sacre Coeur was disappointing too with the huge crowd but it has such a lovely imposing shape. To see it now, ah!

Here are a couple of comments from Jacob. He found my test blog, which I'm now deleting.

We did not make it to that area when we were there, but from what I saw it did appear to have a party atmosphere.

Are you starting a new and different kind of blog, too? Thanks so much for going by Florida Fanfare...I just wanted a place to post some nutty stuff and comments and do goofy things!

Florida Fanfare was a "test" blog, too...I was just fooling around and then the other day decided, what the heck, I need a place to do just plain crazy stuff whether it's a saying or a photo or whatever...

And yes, blogging is great fun. But it doth take time! A lot of time! And I'm retired!

Hope you're feeling better!
