One More Photo of a Grand Old Lady

Paris ~ October 16, 2008

This may be one of my last photos in a series paying homage to the landmark building and company that is (or was) La Samaritaine on the bank of the Seine at Pont Neuf. Look at the wonderful detail of the medallions among the gold letters and the way the windows reflect various hues of the sky.

Beautiful detail (and photo)!
Old is good
New is meh...

This was a building we missed when we were there...I felt really badly but we just didn't have time. And then I read it has been turned into something else. Darn! And yes, it is an elegant structure!

I have waited 20 years to return to my beloved Paris; and somehow I ended up at Lake Atitlan instead! Your photos bring back such lovely memories. Thanks so much for posting!

gosh: I can almost smell it. The view from the windows upstairs to a neat church in the back. I remember amazing art supplies, and fine candies and the enthusiastic expressionon your face that comes from being in Paris.

Ah yes... I miss her too!

@Jacob: I believe this building will be torn down. There was too much asbestos inside and it would have cost too much to refurbish. :(
